At Eclipse Community Management, the safety and well-being of our HOA and condominium association members is our top priority. With spring and summer storm seasons bringing unpredictable weather across Ohio, it’s important for all residents to be prepared for high winds, falling tree limbs, and the possibility of power outages. Understanding what to expect—and how to respond—can help protect your property and ensure your safety.
Storms that produce high winds can be particularly dangerous in community settings. Strong gusts may cause tree limbs to snap or entire trees to topple, especially when the ground is saturated from heavy rain. These falling limbs can damage buildings, block roadways, and pose serious safety risks to residents. If you notice a hazardous tree or overhanging limb in a common area, please report it to our management team as soon as possible. We work closely with licensed tree care professionals to assess and address these risks before and after major weather events.
Power outages are another frequent side effect of severe weather. Outages can last anywhere from a few minutes to several days, depending on the severity of the storm and the response from local utility providers. If an outage occurs in your community, we recommend reporting it immediately to your utility provider. Please do not assume someone else has already done so. You can always check the most up to date outage information from the following websites:
- AES / Dayton – https://www.aes-ohio.com/outages
- Duke / Cincinnati – https://outagemap.duke-energy.com/#/current-outages/ohky
- AEP / Columbus – https://www.aepohio.com/outages/status
Residents should secure all loose outdoor items such as patio furniture, umbrellas, or decorations prior to a storm. These objects can become dangerous projectiles in high winds and may cause damage to buildings, vehicles, or neighboring properties. Association rules regarding outdoor storage and safety measures exist for precisely these scenarios, and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping shared spaces safe.
After the storm has passed, our team will assess common areas for damage and work with vendors to ensure prompt cleanup and restoration. Please avoid downed power lines and do not attempt to move fallen tree limbs yourself, as they may be entangled in live electrical wires or present other hazards. Your safety comes first!
Eclipse Community Management is committed to proactive communication and swift action before, during, and after weather events. If you have specific concerns about storm preparedness in your community or wish to report a maintenance issue, please contact our team. Together, we can minimize risks and help ensure that our neighborhoods remain safe, resilient, and responsive in the face of unpredictable weather.
Stay safe, stay informed—and thank you for helping make your community a great place to live!
